Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Jason Dickinson And The Guelph Storm Advance To Memorial Cup Tournament

How have the Dallas Stars prospects done in this past week of hockey? Defending Big D is committed to to giving you weekly updates as their seasons progress.

OHL

The OHL Champions were crowned on Friday when the Guelph Storm won their series against the North Bay Battalion 4-1. This means that Jason Dickinson will be heading to the Memorial Cup Tournament to face off against the best that the CHL has to offer.

Gemel Smith, of the London Knights, will join him there. The Knights are this year's hosts and automatically get a spot in the tournament despite losing in the second round to the Guelph Storm. That will be an interesting rematch for sure.

The final three games of the series were played this week. First up was game three on Tuesday. With the first two games having gone into overtime this was another close affair. The Storm would win 4-3, helped with a three goal third period.

The equalising and game winner came 19 seconds apart, at 19.30 and 19.49 of the third period respectively. Jason Dickinson would get an assist on the game winner. Nick Paul would remain pointless through this game. Highlights can be found here.

While game three may have been close game four was anything but. The Guelph Storm would completely stomp over North Bay with a 10-1 rout. Dickinson scored two goals and had an assist as the Storm racked up the goals on the scoreboard. By the end of the second it was 8-0.

On North Bay's side the only goal came at the hands of Nick Paul. He scored on the powerplay 10 minutes into the third period. Amazingly, despite the 10-1 rout and his goal being on the powerplay he only finished a minus one.

Dickinson was named second star of the game for his three point effort. Highlights of this game can be found here.

Game five was closer than the 10-1 rout with the Guelph Storm sealing the series 4-3. They scored three straight goals to come back from being 3-1 down halfway through the second period. Nick Paul opened the scoring on the powerplay in the first period, his only point of the game. Dickinson on the other hand went pointless in the game.

Highlights of the game can be found here.
