So after all that work Brad did on playoff clinching scenarios yesterday, only two of them are still valid this morning. The 'Best Case Scenario.' And 'Futility.'
We'll set aside the thought of futility, and instead focus on the huge amount of help the Predators gave the Stars with their 2-nil blanking of the Coyotes in Nashville last night. Or, if you're more the cynical type, you could say the help the Coyotes themselves have given us. 0-3-3 in their last six? Sounds kind of like this other team I know who have missed out on the playoffs the last few seasons...
The Phoenix Coyotes are getting frustrated. Or rather, their fans are. I don't know what the team is doing. I don't think they know what they're doing. And this pleases me.
Oh, and if any of you have friends that are Predators' fans, buy them a beer. Like right now.

Final thoughts on the Stars' [regular] season, from Josh Bogorad. [On the Radar]
The Blues lost last night, despite outshooting the Wild 45-15. Minnesota, next year's Toronto Maple Leafs? [NHL.com]
And the Avalanche won. For those of you whose gazes never rise above the 8th spot in the Western Conference standings, this means the Avs have now overtaken the Blues at the top of the Central, and trail Anaheim by a single point. [NHL.com]
Oh yeah, and American Hero TJ Oshie left the Blues game last night with an upper-body injury. One more Shanaban coming up? [USA Today]
Yes, this is a link to the wrong sport, but it amuses me that the 'coded' terms for injuries is not just a hockey thing: "As we all know, "lat strain" is a catchall that is sometimes applied to bone cancer or demonic possession. In this case, based on watching Paxton throw, we'll gingerly guess it is a --- > slight lat strain." And yeah, I'm a Seattle Mariners fan. What of it? [Seattle Sports Insider]
Nooo! It's the end of an era! And the end of one of the
worst greatest puns on a name ever. Brendan Shanahan is leaving behind the Department of Player Safety, in order to run the... Toronto Maple Leafs? [Puck Daddy]
So Roberto Luongo's new mask is kind of sort of awesome. [Twitter]
I honestly never thought I'd have a link from Blizzard in one of these articles, but, well, first time for everything. Starcraft, meet hockey. Hockey, Starcraft. [Battle.net]
The less real, but far more interesting version of NHL regular-season awards, as presented by Down Goes Brown. [Grantland]
And lastly, this goal is right next door to amazing. On a side note, how great would it be to have this commentator announcing NHL goals? Oy-oy-oy-oy-ohhh!
