Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Gemel Smith Six Game Point Streak, Ully Has Eight Point Week

How have the Dallas Stars prospects done in this past week of hockey? Defending Big D is committed to to giving you weekly updates as their seasons progress.

The Dallas Stars prospects in the OHL are fairing well, and Troy Vance scores his first goal since October in this week's prosepct update.

OHL

Remi Elie played four games with the Belleville Bulls this weeks and he scored two goals. The first came against the Sarnia Sting on Thursday during a 7-2 win. His second goal was during a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Plymouth Whalers on Saturday.

Jason Dickinson went pointless through two games with the Guelph Storm this week. The Storm split the two games, beating Sarnia but losing to the Windsor Spitfires.

Gemel Smith is currently riding a six game point streak, racking up 10 points in that span. He had five of those this week in three games for the London Knights. He had a goal and two assists in the Knights' 9-4 win over North Bay and an assist in a 3-2 win over Sudbury on Friday. He assisted on the game winning goal. He would get another assist in a 5-4 win over the Barrie Colts on Saturday.

Nick Paul had a six game point streak snapped on Sunday. Before that he had two assists in two games against the London Knights and the Oshawa Generals. Over his six game point streak he had 11 points.

Cody Payne had two goals in three games for the Saginaw Spirit this week. He put goals past St. Sault Marie and Kingston.

Radek Faksa had a bit of a forgettable week with a single assist over three games. He also finished a collective minus five over those games. The Sudbury Wolves lost two of the three games they played.

WHL

Mike Winther played three games for the Calgary Hitmen this week. He had two assists, both against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday. The Hitmen won that game 7-4.

Cole Ully had a point in every one of his four games over the past week. He scored five goals and had three assist. He scored a goal and had two assists in the Blazers 6-3 loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Tuesday. He followed that up with two goals in a 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday. His effort earned him the second star of the game. He scored both of the Blazers two goals in a 4-2 loss to the Rockets on Friday. He had a single assist in their 7-3 loss to the Rockets on the back to back on Saturday.

Dmitry Sinitsyn played two games for the Regina Pats this week and had an assist in each of their games. The Pats won both their games convincingly 6-0 against the Saskatoon Blades and 5-2 against the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Branden Troock returned to action after having missed every game since early January. He played on Saturday against the Portland Winterhawks, a game they lost 3-0. Troock's biggest contribution to the game was the three minor penalties he racked up.

QMJHL

Troy Vance got his first goal since October 2nd on Friday. The Charlottetown Islanders lost both of the games they played this week.

Philippe Desrosiers played a single game for the Rimouski Oceanic, it was a 5-2 loss. He saved 23 shots out of 27 and had a 0.852SVS%.

Maxime Lagace did not play this week for the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

USHL

Matej Paulovic played two games this week in the USHL and went pointless through both of them.

NCAA

Michigan and Alex Guptill played two games against Wisconsin this week. He had a single goal in their 3-1 win on Friday. He was named first star of the game. He went pointless in their second game against Wisconsin.

Devin Shore did not play any games this week.

Sweden

Ludwig Bystrom played three games with Farjestad this week and had a single assist. He averaged around 16 minutes of ice time over those three games.

John Klingberg also played three games and had a single assist. His assist came during a 4-1 win over HV71. He averaged about 22 minutes of ice time per game.

Both Niklas Hansson and Emil Molin played three games for Rogle in the Allsvenska this week. Hansson went pointless and Molin had a single assist in a 2-1 win against Sodertalje.

Finland

Esa Lindell played a single game for Jokerit and had an assist. He now has four points through 31 games.

Henri Kiviaho played another game for KalPa in the SM-Liiga and lost 4-1. He made 20 saves for KalPa.

Aleksi Makela played his first SM-Liiga game of the year this week. He went pointless in that single game and had a minus one rating.

Austin Smith played in two games and had a single goal for Assat.
