FULL DISCLOSURE-This is my first Fan Post. I didn't go for fancy, I went for simple. This is also my first real year at paying attention to hockey outside of the Dallas Stars. What you will find below are some prospects that have piqued my curiosity. I have not seen any of these guys play, I am purely going off of what I can find to read about them.
It goes without saying that the top 10-12 guys could all be special. I don't need to tell you about LD, Reinhart, Ekblad, etc. I am more interested in the 12-18 range that the Stars might fall into. If they drop to 10 or so, great, we pick the guy that falls.
I am basing my projected rounds from http://www.draftsite.com/nhl/mock-draft/2014/. There are several sites to look at but this was one of the only ones I could found that had a complete mock. I then used a combination of Future Considerations, Elite Prospects, and Hockey's Future. Obviously, some of these players could move up or down in the rankings by the time the draft rolls around.
I am doing this more to get other peoples input on how they would like to see the draft unfold. At the bottom, I will give my mock draft 1.0.
I'm sure I will leave out a player that should be covered. (Kempe, isn't on here Bayou, suck it.) I literally went thru every name on the link above and then followed them up on the other sites. The players I am going to cover are ones that based on the time I spent reading, really stood out or could be a sleeper in the late rounds. I am not going to say anything about the prospects but rather include a link to let people that are much more knowledgeable than me tell you about the prospect. I have left several players off that still interest me, I just tried to pick 4-5 guys from each round that I would like to take a in depth look at.
Here is my mock draft 1.0 based on being in the 12-18 range and not adding anymore picks than what we currently have. I would love to pick up 2-3 more late round picks. I know this draft isn't as heralded as others recently but I trust Nill to find some gems in the later rounds. My apologies for this bunched up aspect of this post. No matter how many times I added more spaces in between things, I just could not get it to space out more evenly. Get over it. Ideally, I would like to use this Fan Post as an ongoing way to discuss prospects and what not. Some of us enjoy talking draft and prospects year round, our kind isn't very well liked in the middle of a PO fight. :) Take a peek at the players listed below and let me know what changes you would make, etc.
