Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Dickinson Has Six Point Week, Faksa Off To Hot Start With Sudbury

USA TODAY Sports

How have the Dallas Stars prospects done in this past week of hockey? Defending Big D is committed to to giving you weekly updates as their seasons progress.

OHL

Remi Elie played three games this week and finished pointless. The Bulls only won a single game during that time, a 5-4 win against the Peterborough Petes on Thursday.

Jason Dickinson had two three point games this week against the London Knights and the Kitchener Rangers. He went pointless in their game against the Niagara IceDogs. Dickinson's three assists would put the Guelph Storm past the London Knights 5-3 and he was named third star of the game for this effort. His second three point game was during a 5-0 shutout of the Kitchener Rangers. He was again named third star of the game.

Gemel Smith was traded to the London Knights before the OHL trade deadline. He has played three games for them and has gone pointless through them. The Knights have lost all three of the games they played this week.

Nick Paul played three games for the North Bay Battalion and had a single assist, in a game against the Kingston Frontenacs on Sunday. North Bay would win that game 3-2.

Cody Payne served out a suspension for leaving the bench to join in a fight and has been a healthy scratch since then. This is the second long stint of healthy scratches for Cody Payne.

Radek Faksa was the second OHL Dallas Stars prospect to be traded within the OHL. He was traded from the Ktichener Rangers to the Sudbury Wolves. He has been quite productive since he returned from the WJC. In his last game for Kitchener he scored two goals in a 6-2 win over Belleville. He was the first star of the game for his last game there.

In his first game for Sudbury he had a single assist, against the Mississauga Steelheads, in a 4-2 win. He was second star of the game. He met the Bulls again on Saturday, this time wearing a Wolves jersey, and had a goal and an assist in another 4-2 win. He was named second star of the game again.

WHL

Mike Winther has yet to play a game for the Calgary Hitmen. He is recovering from an injury suffered several weeks ago.

Cole Ully played three games this week for the Kamloops Blazers and had a single assist. The assist came during a 6-3 loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Friday. The Blazers lost all three of their games this week.

Dmitry Sinitsyn was in action in three games for the Regina Pats this week. He went pointless and finished with an overall plus-1 rating. The Pats are still in the mix for a playoff spot in the WHL playoffs.

Branden Troock suffered an injury last week and has missed all of this weeks games for the Seattle Thunderbirds. Despite his absence the T-Birds won all three of their games this week, though two were in not in regulation.

QMJHL

Troy Vance played three games for the Charlottetown Islanders and had a single assist. His assist came on their tying goal late in the third period. They would win the game 4-3 in the shootout.

Philippe Desrosiers had two pretty good games and one terrible game. He had a shutout against the Saint John SeaDogs on Thursday and back stopped the Oceanic to a 6-3 win over Quebec on Friday. He had a terrible first period on Sunday against Gatineau and was pulled after letting in 4 goals on 16 shots, a .750 save percentage.

Maxime Lagace ended up with his third QMJHL team this season after he was traded from the Shawinigan Cataractes to the Sherbrooke Phoenix. He played three games and has a 1-2 record. One of those loses was during a shootout.

NCAA

Alex Guptill played two games for Michigan this week and had a single assist. He went pointless in their 5-2 loss to Wisconsin on Friday and had an assist in their 3-1 loss, again against Wisconsin, on Saturday.

Devin Shore was in only one game this week, the outdoor game at Fenway Park, against Boston University. Maine would win 7-3. Devin Shore had two goals and an assist. He had a powerplay goal and an empty netter.

USHL

Matej Paulovic only played a single game for the Muskegon Lumberjacks after serving a suspension. He went pointless in their 4-1 loss to the Indiana Ice.

Sweden

Ludwig Bystrom played three games for Farjestad and finished pointless. He averaged around 12 minutes of ice time per game over the three games.

John Klingberg played two games for Frolunda and had a goal and an assist. His assist was during a 2-1 win over Farjestad. He got a goal in a 4-0 win over Leksand. He averaged about 21 minutes of ice time over those two games. He has 17 points through 34 games, a career high.

Emil Molin and NIklas Hansson continue to play together with Rogle in the Allsvenskan. In their game against Timra Niklas Hansson had a goal and finished a plus 2. Emil Molin went pointless and had a plus one rating. Rogle lost that game 4-3. In their second game of the week, a 5-4 win against Mora, both had assists. Emil Molin is on the top line for Rogle.

Finland

Henri Kiviaho did not play a single game this week. He was suited up as the backup for KalPa.

Esa Lindell only played a single game for Jokerit where he went pointless.

Austin Smith played two games for Assat and also finished pointless.

Some news on Aleksi Makela, I finally found somewhere which has some updated statistic on how his season has gone so far. He's had the injury bug a bit and missed quite a bit of time but its reassuring to see he did, however brief, a stint in the Mestis.
