Dallas Stars training camp wraps up its Fort Worth portion today with another 10:00am scrimmage, then action shifts to Frisco Sunday morning and the first pre-season game comes quick tomorrow night at the American Airlines Center against the St. Louis Blues.
As for who will play tomorrow in front of the home crowd, Ruff feels it should be a "good" group.
"My belief is that we always want to start off well in training camp, you want to win, you want to create that winning atmosphere. It's our first game at home and it will be a good roster."
With Rich Peverley out he'll need to ponder who is going to play with Benn and Seguin and who will comprise the second line along with Ray Whitney.
"We've burned up quite a few napkins," Ruff told media of pondering line combinations. "We'd like to see Benn playing with Seguin. I think we've got Eakin with maybe Whitney and Chiasson. We've got some ideas that we'd like to try."
He added that things never end up the way you write them down on paper to start with, so don't get too excited, but that Eakin line sure does sound fun. If they like what they see at the scrimmage today it's highly possible he could try the same combinations in the game tomorrow night.
I hope to see everyone out in Fort Worth today, and we'll be back with observations and a scrimmage report later in the afternoon. Happy training-camping.
