The Dallas Stars have used their fifth round pick, 149th overall, to draft Matej Paulovic. He is a left wing from the Farjestad J20 of the SuperElit. He is a Slovak playing in Sweden.

He is a big body at 6"3, 187lbs but there is very little written about him on any draft guides that we have at our disposal. From what we can gather on the internet he is a defensively resposible but also offensively gifted forward who plays a similar style, allegedly, as other European players such as Marian Hossa.

He was unranked by all of the major scouting organisations and appears to come from deep knowledge of those playing in Sweden by the Stars Swedish scouts. Hopefully they know what they are doing.

Whether this is accurate or not is unknown and its likely that the best scouting reports will be the ones from development camp in a few days.
