As we pass the final hours before the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, it is time to wrap up the last remaining piece of business as our Taco Goal coupons expire.
The Taco Goal is the much-celebrated third period goal scored by the Stars during home games that earns the crowd a coupon for a Free Taco at Taco Bueno. Whether it is a game-winning goal, insurance goal, or a consolation prize after an 8-1 drubbing by the Blackhawks, the Taco Goal is a fan favorite.
Responding to Alex Goligoski's call to arms, the Stars scored Taco Goals in 15 out of 24 home games in the 2013 season. With the early third period push, Dallas went on to win 9 of 15 games in which they scored a Taco Goal. The team managed to win only once at home without scoring a Taco Goal - a shootout win over Phoenix on February 1st.
So who who are the Stars top performers in "crunch time?"
Loui Eriksson lead the team with 4 Taco Goals. Felicitaciones! In what has been considered a down year for Loui, we can only wonder what could have been! Jaromir Jagr and Ray Whitney separated themselves from the pack with a pair each, while Eric Cole,Trevor Daley, Ryan Garbutt, Philip Larsen, Brenden Morrow and Michael Ryder scored one each.
