The question arises does the timeline to hire a head coach become more urgent? With only two or three teams looking for a new head coach, there didn't seem to be a hurry on the part of Jim Nill. However, does the urgency increase with the announcement that John Tortorella formally of the New York Rangers, has been relieved of his duties.
Now, I don't think that Tortorella will be the next head coach of the Dallas Stars and that is not what this post is about. But when a team like the New York Rangers sudden;y go on the hunt for possibly the same coaching candidates that you're looking at, does Nill's time table get shifted into overdrive? Obviously, the early names being linked to the open Rangers job are Lindy Ruff and Alain Vigneault.
Should Nill speed up his coaching search to make sure that he can get the guy he wants or does he continue to take this time and run the risk of losing this top choice to a larger market team like the Rangers or the Vancouver Canucks?
