Dallas Stars Fall To Blues, 2-1

Dilip Vishwanat

The Stars were stifled in the offensive zone, as the Blues held on to a 1 goal lead for the win.

Everyone knew it would be a nearly impossible task to pull back to back wins against the Vancouver Canucks and the St. Louis Blues. Unfortunately, those fears proved true, as the Stars were unable to even get to overtime tonight.

The Blues played in classic Hitchcock style, keeping the Stars from really sustaining any offensive pressure throughout the game. At a certain point in the third frame, it seemed like Dallas was just trying too hard to get something done, as frustration was starting to leak through.

There are some good points to this game, though. The Stars handled themselves well against yet another playoff team, and was able to keep pace with them throughout. In fact, were it not for a questionable call and an unlucky bounce, this could have been a different game entirely. But, as they say, that's the way hockey goes. The Stars have been the beneficiary of those lucky calls and bounces lately, so it should not come as a surprise that it went the other way on this night.

The other bit of good news: The Stars still control their own destiny. As of tonight, if the Stars go 4-0, with one shootout win or less, they will clinch a spot over Detroit, The Red Wings play tomorrow night against the San Jose Sharks, so it is possible that there could be some good news from the Stars after tomorrow.

We will have more thoughts on this game tomorrow. In the mean time, feel free to drown your sorrows or talk about how they can still clinch.

Side note: Huge congrats to the Boston Police Department.
