To start off, I am typically a pretty positive person and try to see the brighter side of things, but after last nights performance I am irritated. I love this hockey team, I love the youth movement, but I hate letting our goalie get hung out to dry. The Stars have given up 116 shots in their last three games. Apparently the team knows we have an elite goaltender and have decided that defensive play is no longer important. From the countless goals last night that just barely went over the goal line and the countless amount of bodies of Wild players hovering and landing on top of Kari last night, our team just does not seem to care about protecting the net. I do not know what it is, but our defense continues to get worse. I know they scored a couple of key goals last night, but then they go ahead and turnover the puck at the worst possible time. Goligoski is infuriating. He scores, and I think he is finally turning the corner with a couple of nice defensive plays in the second period, and then on the four minute powerplay he turns over the puck in the middle of the ice.
I do not know what to say about the performance last night, this team is not a playoff team. As much as I like Jagr and Roy, I think we should trade them and get the best possible assets for them. Jagr would be great to re-sign from a marketing and development stand point, but I cannot think of a time when he could possibly have more value to a contending team. Jagr is leading the team in scoring and could be a, "last piece" for some contender. I also think at the end of the season it is time for Gulutzan to go. He has no fire and seems to provide no type of leadership on the bench. Every time I look at the bench it is the veterans and asisstant coaches talking up the players and providing insight, not him.
I love my Stars but that game was awful.
