The struggle within...

Well to start off this is my first post so be gentle....I've been following the DBD for a while but never really felt inclined to chime in on the goings on of the franchise. I like many fans fell by the wayside during the dark years ( ie anything after the cup) and then interest peaked in 08 but then rapidly fell off as the franchise delved into bankruptcy and the depths of slightly below mediocrity. This season , with the lockout and the renewed attitude I have found a renewed faith and joy in the Dallas Stars. It is sad to see players leave especially when it the soul of the franchise, but as with life times change. Morrow carried the organization through ( hopefully the most difficult years) hard times and now as we emerge we aren't really sure what to expect. This group is fun and frustrating to watch all at the same time. The future does look bright but my thoughts are this. If we sucked rebuilding would be a breeze. We are retooling while maintaining a competitive edge: the most difficult challenge that there is. GM Joe has had his hands tied early on so we shouldn't be quick to judge. This however is a results based league. The Stars had players to make the playoffs recently and simply could not feed off of the Captains heart and soul. The playoffs require an edge that aside from a select few players the Stars desperately lacked. If you have skill and lack heart you will not succeed. The heart that has been infused this year has been you with a sprinkle of veteran tenacity. Jagr and Whitney provide this and to GM Joe goes the credit. As TG said his goal is to build an elite organization at all levels ( not from the ground up). Our youth is infusing the heart , hunger and tenacity that we saw so eloquently displayed with the heros past: Modano, Hull, Ludwig, Morrow, Sydor,Hatcher, Zubov, Robidas, Nieuwendyk, Lehtonen (both), Belfour, Turco, Carbonneau,Keane to Roussel, Garbutt, Fiddler, Nystrum, Dillon, Benn , Eakin and Smith. Patience is a luxury not often found in professional sports or in reality for that matter, This is a new day for the Dallas Stars and yet the sun is rising and it is bright. Have faith because I believe.....
