The Dallas Stars are getting at least one Christmas present a few days late this evening as a defenseman with actual, significant NHL experience returns to the lineup.
Regardless, it's 204 games of NHL experience (or 196 more than the very game Maxime Fortunus brought to the team in its last game before Christmas) back on the roster tonight for a game against the Nashville Predators, who beat Dallas 3-1 just over two weeks ago in the first of six meetings this season.
It's also the start of a five-game homestand for the Stars, who struggled to find consistency at home until the past few weeks. Were the back-to-back wins over the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche the start of a better trend or just aberrations? We'll find out here shortly.
In other news, Eric Nystrom will be returning to the AAC for the first time since signing with the Predators this summer. Nystrom, originally acquired to help the Stars meet the salary cap floor, was a nice little role player in his year and a half in Dallas and was a fun personality off the ice as well. He should receive a warm welcome tonight.
So continue to work off that egg nog and holiday dinner stupor tonight, either at the AAC or by joining us here on DBD for the game thread.
