The Dallas Stars will get Ray Whitney back tomorrow when they take on the Anaheim Ducks at the American Airlines Center. Whitney has been sidelined with a lower-body injury sustained in the game against the Chicago Blackhawks on November 9th.
The move looked likely with the waiving -- and subsequent trading -- of forward Lane MacDermid at the end of last week. With Whitney's return to the lineup, it appears as though Dustin Jeffrey may be the odd man out based on lines run this morning in Frisco:
In other roster news, it seems as though Dan Ellis will get a start in net soon. Coach Lindy Ruff was non-committal to what "soon" means, but he didn't necessarily rule Ellis out of Tuesday night's start versus the Ducks. Looking forward to the Stars schedule, they will face Anaheim on Tuesday and then host the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday after Thanksgiving with the Edmonton Oilers coming to the AAC on Sunday.
One thing is certain - the Stars need to be better at home, where they hold a .500 record on home ice (3-3-2). With more than half of their games being played at home for the rest of 2013, it's important that the team get wins at home to remain competitive in the uber-tight west.
