At long last, the schedules for the 2013 season have been released. As expected, the Dallas Stars will open the season on January 19th, against the Phoenix Coyotes. The Stars will also wrap up the season at home, against the Detroit Red Wings on April 27th. In between those bookend games, there are a number of items on the schedule that should be of interest.

There are a number of weekend games that the Stars have at home this season, more than were originally planned at this point in the season had there not been a lockout. It's somewhat of lucky break, as that means more people can attend games at the American Airlines Center, at least compared to the dreaded weeknight games.

It looks like the NHL has tried to schedule the easiest travel possible for all teams, with a number of head to head match ups. Like the "series" games that were hinted at last week, the Stars will play the same team consecutively, in order to make travel easier. Hopefully this will help to keep the Western Conference teams fresh as the season progresses, since that have considerably more miles to go compared to the Eastern conference.
