The NHL lockout has been over for six days now and while fans have apparently come rushing back to the league with open arms, not a single fan has been able to purchase an individual-game ticket or even look ahead to plan trips to the arena. With the Memorandum of Understanding still under construction, the NHL has stated that the full schedule could not be released until the current CBA was ratified by both the NHL and the NHLPA.
The players' vote on the new deal is expected to end early Saturday morning and with all teams now in possession of a full plan for the 48-game season, the official Dallas Stars 2013 schedule is expected to be released publicly sometime on Saturday along with the rest of the NHL schedule.
What we do know is this: the Stars will be playing on Saturday, Jan. 19 at home against the Phoenix Coyotes, then getting the first back to back of the season out the way by traveling to St. Louis for a game against the Blues on the Jan. 20. The Stars will then travel to play the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Most of the first batch of games for the Stars will be on the road (Mike Heika reported 10-of-15) and while there are a few three-game "series" against the same team -- there are no three-games-in-three-nights like you see in the AHL.
Individual game tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13.
The Dallas Stars also announced on Friday that the "Kids Free" program we reported yesterday has been made official. The team is partnering with 7-Eleven for the promotion, with children 12-and-under able to attend Dallas Stars games for free in January and February, one with each purchase of an individual ticket.
Details are in the press release below:
FRISCO, Texas - The Dallas Stars have teamed up with 7-Eleven to create the "Kids Free" Ticket Promotion, a new program for Stars home games allowing children ages 12 and younger to receive free tickets with the purchase of a full price ticket. The offer is an online promotion allowing easy access to "Kids Free" tickets with no processing fees.
"We wanted to do something special in this shortened season to provide an opportunity for families to see the Dallas Stars live and in person," Stars owner Tom Gaglardi said. "Our organization is committed to growing the game of hockey in North Texas and providing the best fan experience in professional sports. We hope this program is a great way to kick start the season."
Full price tickets purchased in qualifying sections of the American Airlines Center for any January or February home game will be eligible for the "Kids Free" Ticket Offer. Fans can visit DallasStars.com and click the "Kids Free" Ticket Offer logo on the front page of the website to purchase tickets.
7-Eleven, Inc. President and CEO Joe DePinto said, "7-Eleven employees and franchises in North Texas strongly support the Dallas Stars Kids Free program because it provides the opportunity for a child to experience the fun and excitement of Stars hockey in person, and will ignite their passion for hockey and our home team Dallas Stars."
The 2013 Dallas Stars regular-season schedule is expected to be released Saturday, January 12 following ratification of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement by the NHLPA.
Individual game tickets are expected to go on sale Sunday, January 13 at 10 a.m.
