Dallas fans, I am working on a column discussing Jamie Benn's future. Wanted to get some thoughts on where he best fits - W or C?

My take:

With the current makeup of the Dallas roster, Benn almost needs to play C. Fiddler isn't a 2nd line C, and no one else is ready. The UFA market is bone dry, but there could be a trade to bring someone in.

Pros of center:

More time with the puck on his stick.

Cons of center:

Benn is more scorer than playmaker, although Eriksson is a great playmaking wing.

Defensive responsibilities - a good thing to learn them, but at W Benn would get to get in on the forecheck with more regularity.

I think ideally the Stars bring in a long-term 2nd line C fit - there are some interesting names who could potentially be made available (Derek Roy, although you could argue he is too much like Ribeiro).

Thoughts?
