We decide to mull over Dennis Wideman on the front page here and an hour later the Capitals traded his rights to the Calgary Flames, who massively overpay the guy with a 5-year, $26.25 M deal. Wow. That's free agency, and that's why it's a dangerous, dangerous game. That would have made Wideman, with all the warts we discussed earlier, the highest paid Dallas Stars. As it is it makes Jason Garrison even MORE desirable and it puts the pressure on all teams to make deals with their UFA d-men, or pay that much more in the market for what's left. Good grief.
