Dallas Stars 2011-12 Season Grades: Tomas Vincour

Once again it's that time of year here on Defending Big D where we take a look at each player that suited up for 20 or more games this season (and are still with the team) - and take a look back at their season. What was good about it, what wasn't so good, and the lasting impression they left us as we go into summer.

Key Stat: 4th - Tomas Vincour had the fourth best Corsi rating of any Stars forward (behind Jake Dowell, Tom Wandell, and Jamie Benn).

The Good: Vincour proved to be a very valuable young forward for the Stars despite low point totals. He had an unfortunately low shooting percentage of 6%, and the players on the ice actually shot worse than he did which impacted his assist totals. Ultimately he kept the puck away from the net, generated shots, and had some combination of immature offense, little ice time, and bad luck hold his counting stats down. When Vincour was on the ice at even strength his line generated shots at a similar rate to Michael Ryder, and higher than Mike Ribeiro.

The Bad: He's going to need to score to generate value for the Stars. He has a raw offensive game. He doesn't put himself in scoring position enough to generate enough offense to make him a viable top six forward yet.

The Bottom Line: Vincour continued to develop this year, and at times showed some flashes of the player he can become.. When he learns to assert himself offensively the Stars should have an impact player on their hands. You aren't here to rate potential though.

The Vote: Rate Vincour on a scale of A to F (A being the best of course) based on his performance relative to his potential and your expectations for the season.
