Now that we know where the Stars will be drafting (most likely) I wanted to see if anyone had some favourites from this year's draft class. Central scouting recently released its list of North American skaters and there are some interesting names around the 13th spot.

There are a few names that jump out to me, but I haven't had the chance to watch as many games as usual this year. First is Matt Dumba. The drop to 11th is wild and if he somehow slips anymore he's definitely someone that would be an incredible steal, even though defense isn't our most pressing need.
The name I'm most excited about though is Brendan Gaunce:

| GAUNCE, BRENDAN | BELLEVILLE | OHL | 6' 2.0" | 215 |
He's ranked at 13th by Central scouting, right in the Stars wheel house. I've had the chance to see him in person quite a bit this season and he's an absolute man among boys on the ice no matter who is matched up against him. Strong on the boards, great size, and can make plays happen from everywhere on the ice. It's particularly impressive how much he elevates those on his line despite being a shot-heavy kind of player. I really think he could be the big, strong centre that has eluded the stars these last few drafts. He plays in Belleville with another promising prospect (Zharkov) and while the team has struggled lately, they have produced many NHLers including Jason Spezza, John Cheechoo, Kyle Wellwood, Matt Stajan, and PK Subban.
Just curious if anyone had any first hand info on any of the other names we might be able to pick up. Trying to stay optimistic this time of year is tough, but there seems to be some very good prospect available for the Stars and we might as well continue the speculation.
