Russian Players

My buddy and I have a theory on how the coaches in Russia determine what position their kids play starting out. If a kid throws a body check he's immediately placed on Defense and then they sort out the rest later. It's almost baffling how generally only the Russian D men are the ones that hit. Ovechkin was the exception because he kept going coast to coast to score so the coaches had no choice. But on a serious and long time ago note, when the Stars played Columbus this season I was really noticing Maksim Mayorov a lot. That guy could probably do some damage in another system and with better coaching. Interestingly enough he was drafted in the 4th round same year as Benn with the pick the Stars traded to LA that was then traded to Columbus. The Blue Jackets are so bad at developing Russian players (I guess pretty much all players in general though) that its borderline amazing. Apparently they're already looking at trading pick #1 in 2012 if they get it because the fans would have an uprising for drafting another Russian (Nail Yakupov) in that spot. I know this doesn't really relate to the Stars but it does kind of make me cry vodka tears remembering Zubov wheeling up the ice.
