I've been a little frustrated with him
Seems like he never wants to make the smart, easy play which is what they need sometimes. Also, just seems to have less fire than normal.

He has always been like this. Expecting him to change his game is silly.

Yeah, the only reason Philly was able to trade him to Columbus is that they (Columbus) were desperate
I don’t know that there are many other teams that desperate, except maybe the Habs, and I wouldn’t put anything past their GM after some of the stuff he’s done this season.

His ability to anticipate is an advantage usually.

His mind is an advantage
but his foot speed is not, and PK guys have to be constantly moving. He doesn’t even always do that in the offensive zone. I don’t think it’s wise for him to be out there
If you know where they're going with the play
and what they’re trying to do, you have more time to get where you need to be. He’s not the greatest 5 on 4 killer they have, but I think he’s pretty good 5 on 3.
I hate that even more
because he’s sooooo bad at faceoffs. It’s like guaranteeing that the other team gets to start set up in the zone instead of having to work to get in.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Ribs, but only on the other team’s side of center ice. He’s just not a good defensive player.
I agree he's not a great defensive player.
Just he’s a better 5 on 3 killer than most think. He doesn’t over-pursue and generally is good at breaking up the play. Faceoffs are hard to win 5 on 3 unless you can win them clean because of the lack of winger support.
I would still take
Ott, Benn, or Fiddler for any 5 on 3 time before Ribs. They’re all better face off guys, and they’re all better defensive players. There just isn’t enough justification to put Ribs out there for PK time. It’s not an optimal use of our personnel

When you go on the kill 3x in a row. I still like the Benn line and what they just did. That line should play half of the 3rd. What are we saving them for. There not freaking old

I mean we stripped the C from MO and gave it to morrow for no reason. Which btw still gives me a case of the red *. We should just stick with A’s and not have a C this year. Benn might not be ready tho. Hell noone deserves the C with the leadership shown this year

but there was a reason
Modano’s performance was suffering under the weight of the C and all of it’s extra responsibilities, and Morrow was still young and the guy we all considered our future captain. They decided the team would be better with Morrow as Captain.

it also suffered because
he was going through major financial problems at the time. I’m not saying it was justified, just that the Stars didn’t do it without a reason. Getting run over by the Avs in the playoffs in 2004 and 2006, despite being the higher ranked team, didn’t help either.
Seems there was a team meeting yesterday
Anyway, got a lead which we are pretty good with coming into the 3rd period.

I was just saying that you can spend and collect talent and not win. I really wasn’t comment on people calling for them to spend. They’re gonna spend more next year almost by default because of Goose and Benn.
Spending will be nice for a change
But honestly i would just like to be a younger team and collect talent. The Stars have always been a veteran team with sprinkles of youth. That finally caught up to us. We always say ownership, but look at the Coyotes. So we cant hang on that excuse as much. I wanna be a young team sprinkled with veterans. Edmonton might lose alot, but there entertained by those kids

I would prefer we get younger too. Just I’ve always wondered how much losing begets losing as far as a culture in the locker room. Not saying it would happen here by any means just something I’ve always wondered.

Alot of it is about what kind of veterans you have around. Are they the selfish kind who dont wanna see the kids pass them up or like Captain Canada. Goaltending also has something to do with it.

I understand the handcuffs and the handicaps that’s came from an owner who decided to invest his entire fortune in a Premier League futbol team. Epic Fail. But we’ve drafted for need instead of the most talented player available. The rest is just the same stars team I’ve seen since the 08’ season

He was quite clear about how he was awesome financially when the team went into bankruptcy. Also, their fans hated him and Gillette more than Stars and Rangers fans.
So he borrowed to much money to buy liverpool
that kinda sounds like an oxymoron. He was awesome financially but had to sale both of his texas franchises

He's incredibly skilled
I just worry about character issues and that contract. It’s just so long and has a NTC I believe. I know he’ll still be under 40 when it’s done but man.
I commented about the contract in an earlier post
In 5 years it’ll be the best valued contract for a 30 goal scorer in the NHL. And I think the character stuff was blown up by the GM. If your young & rich in the city of Philly, what would you do. All I know is that every year he produces
