Mark Fistric, super sub?

So I've been thinking about this for the last few days, and I, like many of you, have been wondering why Fistric always seems to be the odd man out. Putting aside dum dum Crawford's handling of him, I'm starting to think that Mark Fistric may just be a super sub. Think about it for a second, it makes total sense. He may just be in the perfect role right now, so while i would like him to get more playing time, is he simply more effective when he doesn't play all 82?

Let's take a look at this guy shall we? Big, strong, mean, physical. Those are good qualities to have in any player, but especially good on defense. Fistric can put the fear of god into any opposing teams forwards taking the puck into the zone and around the net. We've all seen time and time again the way this guy can change a game with one hit.

We've also seen how you can pair him with pretty much every other defenseman the stars have and it will work because you know what you're going to get from him on a nightly basis. You put him with Sheldon Souray and have two big bruisers or you can put him on the top pair with goose and he'll play big minutes. Sure the coaching staff could suit him up for all 82 games as a 5 or 6, but wouldn't it be better to have him rotate with other guys? Fistric may just be the best 7th defenseman in the league because of what he brings to table. He's basically made sure Adam Pardy doesn't have a job, and we can all agree that's a good thing. I think that's what his role is now and I think it's the perfect spot for him. So what do you guys think, is he a super sub? and should that be his role going forward?
