How would you feel about a name change?
Hi DBD community,
Long time lurker, first time poster. Awhile ago someone made the comment (sorry I don't have a link) that when the North Stars were first relocating to Dallas they wanted to call the team the "Dallas Lone Stars". I think it's an intriguing idea and with new ownership this might be the opportunity to do so. I personally feel that this could (as far as the PR aspect) help the team forge a "new identity" and would work conceptually in a similar manner to when Anaheim dropped the "mighty" from their name.
But I as one of the hoi polloi I'm not sure how the general fan base would feel about that. This would give us the ability to tweek or modify logos/color schemes/mascots too. What say you all?

Do we really need to forge a "new identity"?
I know we’re just over a decade removed from our glory days, but there’s no reason we can’t return to them at some point with Benn at the helm. It’s obviously frustrating watching a team who doesn’t fill the arena and who hasn’t made the playoffs since 08, but I don’t think the fanbase could get much lower than it is. Why not let the team on the ice do the talking and selling (well…hopefully) instead of trying to construct a facade over the team?
On a much brighter note, welcome aboard and thanks for posting :). I don’t mean to come off as a debbie downer on your first post; just my thoughts on the situation.

sorry intersteller_pig, tough crowd!
For Anaheim, that had not been successful (yet), and had a name courtesy of Disney, it made all the sense in the world. But for us, since we’ve won a cup, I don’t think so. If you have a championship, you have to capitalize on it and celebrate it as an organization, and a name change seems to contradict that in my opinion.
Not to be a grammer Nazi...
but Lone implies singular Stars is the plural of star so we are the singular plurals of something. Not a fan.
