The fact that you are evening debating this worries me. Anything before 10, is ridiculous.
(Turns out I was on a division 1 crew team for all four years and had practice before 6 am five days a week, so this is a bit contradictory.)

After watching the replay, he doesn't even have to do that.
Just has to lift Cogs’ stick. I’m just tired of seeing goals that could have been prevented if our defense weren’t just standing there doing nothing.
That was a fluke goal
They don’t play man to man they play a zone. He was covering the guy out front, but also covering his post with Souray in the corner. If he leaves his post and the LW comes around he gets skewered too.

He had 3 goals in his last 15 games including tonight., or about his career season pace.
I mean good for him, but he has cooled off considerably. He’d have to probably die to not score 25, but he won’t do it again next year.

is in favor of alternate streams. in fact, Wyshynkski & Marek talked about it in reference to the ASG, but still.
I think it could be like Nascar, in arena, where you rent headphones and can select channels. and say, maybe pre-game they have fan voting on who they mic.

Is it a guarantee the cap will go up?
I know the union is better organized than last time, but do you really see the cap going up dramatically after the CBA negotiations?
Depends on the cost.
legit 30 goal scorer for 5 mil a year for 9 years. Partial no trade in 2015 or so.
I’d take a chance depending on the price.

The 40 goal season was a fluke.
He’s still on a 30+ goal pace this season. He’s a bad match in CBJ for the talent they have. Nash and Carter never made sense.

It's a potential top 10 pick
And they aren’t one player away. This isn’t NHL12.
The salary cap exists. Dealing 1st round picks for players making 5 mil isn’t how you build a team.

You can't ignore the salary cap.
You have to manage entry level contracts to compete long term. Giving away a premium entry level deal (probably two) for a guy that doesn’t fix your issues is bad roster management.

Trading two pieces when the team needs a second line, a third line, and three defensemen doesn’t make sense right now.

at minimum to be a contender.
I never said a 1st round pick and a prospect was bad VALUE for the Stars.
You’re confusing the concepts of value and logic. It isn’t logical for the Stars to make that trade right now because they aren’t in the right part of the team building time line to add someone like that.

Edmonton trades the number 2 pick in the draft and a prospect for Carter, and it’s a good deal?
Toronto trades two 1sts for Phil Kessel, and it’s a good deal.
That’s absurd. Look at the teams that deal high first round picks. Theres a reason they don’t rise after doing so.

Teams that already are contenders and have built a significant roster make that trade.
Teams in rebuilding mode, needing several pieces, should not be trading a 1st round and top prospect for really good forward. Not I’d he’s not a cornerstone for a franchise. He’s very good…not on that level though.

You guys probably read the TSN news every morning. Why is it that when the Stars have a bad attendance game the writers have to note that X many people were announced, but it didn’t appear that way? The Stars aren’t moving or even in the rumor mill of moving. Do you guys think we’ll see a note tomorrow about how there is less than 10k there tonight?
Sorry this is just something that grinds my gears.

Eh
Benn still learning the art of setting others up. He’s pretty solid about creating his own offense, but I wouldn’t say he’s a great set-up guy just yet.
Gulutzan apparently likes Benn with Ott because Ott does a lot of the dirty work and Benn doesn’t feel like he has to. It’s not a bad combination, especially if Ryder can play sniper.

Oh he does
But he’s not really a playmaker yet like Ribeiro. He creates stuff by creating his own offense and letting the others clean up the mess.
The passing is definitely getting better and becoming a much better weapon, but he’s not the type of forward who necessarily needs the most skilled guys with him. He makes the other guys better regardless of their usual skill level.
