Nick Laham

How have the Dallas Stars prospects done in this past week of hockey? Defending Big D is committed to to giving you weekly updates as their seasons progress.

The Swedish and Finnish Leagues are back in action again after taking a week hiatus the previous week. In the OHL all the Dallas Stars prospects have been performing well.

Brett Ritchie has extended his goal scoring streak to 8 games, and he scored 6 points in his three games this week. Brett Ritchie's line has been dominating the OHL and he is third in point scoring in the OHL so far this season.

Gemel Smith has scored in two of his three games this week and continues to impress. He is third in his team in scoring with 27 points through 23 games so far this season. This is good enough to put him in the top 20 in scoring in the OHL.

Radek Faksa has had a mixed week, In the first game this week on Friday he scored three assists but missed Saturday's game due to flu symptoms. He returned to action in Sunday's game and had an assist. He finished the game despite being on the receiving end of a bad boarding where he had to be helped from the ice by a trainer.

Mike Winther has scored three points in the two games he has played this week (1 goal, 2 assists). He continues to perform impressively for the Prince Albert Raiders. He however went pointless in Sunday's game as they lost 6-1

Matej Stransky played two games this past week, scoring three goals and putting up one assist for four points over the weekend. After a very slow start to the season, Stransky has 17 points in his past 13 games.

in the QMJHL Troy Vance played two game and had an equal +/- during the Tigres 7-2 loss and -1 in their second game. He went pointless this week.

In Sweden Emil Molin has played two games this week for Byrnas of the Elitserien. He played 11 minutes in each game. He was scratched for the first game of this week however.

Ludwig Bystrom played three games this week and scored a single assist. He has moved from the second defensive pairing and is now playing on the third pairing averaging about 12 minutes per game.

Esa Lindell played a single game for Jokerit of the SM-Liiga and played approximately 11 minutes. Jyrki Jokipakka scored a single goal in IIves two games this week but finished with a collective -4 for the week.

In the NCAA Alex Guptill played two games going scoreless and -4 through the week. Scott Winkler had a goal and an assist in two games but was ejected from the second game after a check to the head. Devin Shore played in a single game and finished with an assist. Curtis McKenzie had a single goal through two games. Dmitry Sinitsyn didn't play in UMass Lowell's first game this week. However during their second game, an 8-2 victory, Sinitsyn scored his first goal and finished with a plus three. Hopefully this goal will be the first of many!

On the injury front Branden Troock is still out indefinitely with an upper body injury. John Klingberg is still out after hip surgery in the summer but is expected to be back by the end of November.
