Stars trade Roman for Esposito
The Dallas Stars made a move in their minor-league system late Friday afternoon when they sent prospect left wing Ondrej Roman to the Florida Panthers in exchange for center Angelo Esposito.
Both players were selected in the 2007 draft - Roman in the 5th round by the Stars and Esposito with the 20th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Neither player will have to move far. Esposito is currently with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage, where he has two goals, three assists and and eight penalty minutes in 16 games. He also spent three games in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones this season. Roman has spent most of the season with the Texas Stars, where he has one goal and four assists.

There was some thought that he'd be a really really really high pick for a while too.

Roman wasn't going anywhere with Texas/Dallas
Might as well give him a change of scenery and see if Esposito can show the flair he had at the 2009 WJC somewhere new. I don’t expect either to make it out of the AHL in their careers.

Didn't really notice him
We went to a Rampage game over New Years, and the only thing we really noticed about him was his name. Honestly, you don’t hear about hockey players named Esposito all that often. I don’t remember him playing badly, but I didn’t notice him being especially great, either.
I guess they think he’ll do better with a fresh start.
Use to watch him in the Q
He was never as good as most thought he was. He played with Alex Radulov with the Quebec Remparts and Tavares in the WJC’s, which shows why he had so many points back then.
hey
didn’t the thrashers trade hossa for this guy? Wow…
Wow, I didn't know how bad this trade really was:
Hossa and Pascal Dupuis for Angelo Esposito, Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, and a 1st (they used on Daulton Leveille).

FIRE JOE
I don’t see Shea Weber and now I refuse to go to anymore Stars’ games.
Interesting to see how this “bust” project goes. Florida was supposed to be his last chance, but like others before him, Stefan, we will welcome him with open arms.
What...just...happened?
you're kidding right?
Not sure if sarcasm, or serious? (fry face)

I just want to know why
this trade was made. It benefits neither team. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” Nobody is any better for this trade. I don’t get it.
Something Clever.
sometimes a change of scenery helps.
That’s all it’s about. Might pan out, might not. No risk for either side, with some potential rewards.

Plus, maybe Roman asked for a change
And it reflects nicely on management if they did that for him.
Wonder if FL contacted Joe about anyone else…
