Dallas Stars Place Eric Godard, Six Others on Waivers
TSN is reporting this afternoon that seven Dallas Stars were placed on waivers today. With Texas Stars camp getting ready to start on Tuesday this is the time of year for it and they're expected to make it through no problem, but then there's Eric Godard to consider.
According to TSN Dallas Stars placed the following on waivers Saturday:
DAL - Maxime Fortunus
DAL - Eric Godard
DAL - Brad Lukowich
DAL - Travis Morin
DAL - Raymond Sawada
DAL - Dan Spang
DAL - Francis Wathier
We've been saying all camp that Godard's deal was two way in the first year, so if there was going to be someone muscled out for the 13th/14th forward positions on this team, it could be him. This doesn't mean that he has been. It's early in the preseason still and there is much to be decided, but this will raise eyebrows in the media and have the name Tomas Vincour on the tip of tongues, as he's been very good in the first two preseason games. Just like last year.
Nothing is set in stone. This just gives Dallas options moving forward to round out their lineup how they see fit. We'll find out tomorrow around noon if everyone clears.
Elsewhere former Stars Brandon Segal, Dan Jancevski, Garrett Staford, and Matt Beaudoin were placed on waivers as well.

I'd say we can maybe expect to see Vincour playing on the 3rd line.
He hasn’t found his scoring touch, although he is starting to in preseason games. He plays a pretty physical game which is important to 3rd and 4th liners.

Definitely good news for Vincour.
He’s earned it though. One day he’ll score again.

Does this mean that Godard can be sent down or will he still be on the team?

Does being on waivers mean they won't play tonight?
@Andrewsdsp said Godard, Sawada, Fortunus, and Wathier were suiting up for tonight’s game. Does that change?
I don't believe it affects them playing in preseason games in Dallas.
I think it just gets the waiver piece out of the way for them to be sent to Austin, because Texas is starting their training camp on Monday with a preseason three in three next weekend, and the season/home opener on Sunday, Oct 9. Do I sound like I’m ready for hockey to start down here as much as in Dallas? For those down south, this Tuesday’s practice is the only one open to the general public.

nothing unexpected really.
Wouldn’t have shocked me if they sent Barch through. Plenty of marginal players get waived this time of year.
