Well...

Certainly a good speaker and seems a pretty likable guy. Hope he can turn this ship in the right direction.

When this ownership crap is done, I will enjoy all of this much more.

"all teams have great defense so we'll start from there and then... an up tempo game, in your face"

Like it, its not Nashville, its got a (on behalf of the Queen) Royal seal of approval.

Damn did we miss Nicklas Grossman
James Neal - 45 points. Alex Goligoski - 46 points. Nieuwendyk lost?

Thanks for the link to these interviews DBD/Dallas Stars PR

I am encouraged… Gully came across as a coach guys will want to jump on board with. GM Joe is steadily building a solid team with winning attributes, despite ownership handicaps. Also, great to see Joe be a part of the NHL governing crew panels seeking to better the game! Promising future for the Stars. It just feels right.

Is that the link to the Joe audio where he talks about how little talent the Stars sent to Texas?

I heard some audio where he was praising Gulu for achieving despite the Stars sending very little talent to Austin which….just doesn’t seem like something a GM would normally want to admit.

Well....

Joe didn’t exactly have much to do with the talent in Austin.

He’s also said before (at the 2010 draft, I think) about how he feels the Stars’ depth in the system was significantly lacking when he took over, something he was trying to correct.

No doubt.

Not intending to criticize Joe. You just don’t normally hear a GM talk about how little talent they’ve sent their main feeder farm team.

I think it was more about Joe acknowledging there's been some issues.

Namely the trading away of draft picks (Ladyslav Nagy) for players that didn’t do a damn thing.

the Nagy trade…. that is so sad, Game of Thrones (we lost a 1st rnd pick for that?) sad…PS don’t tell me who wins that glorious TV event! I haven’t read the books.

the Nagy trade

was quite possibly the worst trade this team ever made…

Aside from trading away Nieuwendyk and Langenbrunner

For Jason freaking Arnott and Rob May.

at least we got something when we got Arnott

by no means a good trade, but Arnott was an acceptable 2nd line center, and he wasn’t an end of season rental. With Nagy, we got, well… nothing. he really didn’t do anything while he was here, and he certainly didn’t “help move the team to the next level” for the post season. At least there were some positive memories with Arnott, even if they would have been better had it been Joe and Langs instead

It was for Randy McKay and Jason Arnott.

McKay played like two weeks for us and then the following year played in Montreal before retiring at the end of the 2002/03 season.

Jason Arnott was an excellent player

They might have given up too much, but Nagy was absolutely worthless.

If I wasn't on the rig, I actually still have that interview on my recorder.

It was when I with NBC and never got to publish the whole thing.

I should try and find that. He was very forthcoming, I thought.

I thought it happened today.

I heard it on the radio this afternoon.

by Josh Lile on Jun 18, 2011 1:57 AM CDT up reply actions

Ah..the praising of Gulutzan in spite of talent....yeah, I think that was today.

What I’m referring to is Nieuwendyk talking previously about changing the organization’s approach to the draft and draft picks and using those as a premium to rebuilding to system.

Ah, gotcha

I remember him saying that, I think, a few weeks before last years draft.

I sure hope we're poised to move forward

and that ‘limbo’ is just about over.

I want to believe it, but with no news at all on the ownership front for a month now, it’s getting hard.

There has been news

Just not “it’s finished” news. Take heart. It’s happening! I believe!

Heika suggests that the players were questioning decisions such as Woywitka over Mark Fistric --Brad Gardner

Maybe that's why Woywitka had that puzzled face after that goal....
