Islanders To Start Kevin Poulin In Goal Versus Stars
Mike Heika of the DMN is reporting that the Islanders have recalled rookie netminder Kevin Poulin from their AHL affiliate Bridgeport and that he'll get the start tonight. Evgeni Nabokov was hoping to get the start but suffered a setback with his groin at practice (setback with a groin is not something Stars fans want to be hearing anywhere these days) and Al Montoya has been struggling, so Poulin gets the start. On the surface it's rookie on rookie action in net tonight but Poulin is not as green as Bachman, having played last year for the Islanders. He went 4-2-1 with a nice .924 save percentage before injuring his knee, so he'll be motivated after making it all the way back.
