Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Where is the Love?

I stopped by the NHL site to cast my vote for our players on the All-Star ballot and I was saddend to see we are seriously slacking! Only Studly Wonderbomb is in so far - and he's all the way at the bottom - currently at #20 of 20. C'mon ya'll, lets show these guys some true Texas pride and love and get them in. Let's find a way to spread the word and get everyone voting.

All it dictates is the "starters" for the team.

Not worth voting for, IMO.

The good players on the Stars will make it.

The Good Players?

What do you mean? And what’s with the font on my post? :)

by StarryEyedLizzy on Nov 29, 2011 3:37 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

The players on the Stars team who should be on the All Star team will probably be on there regardless...

they just won’t be starting.

Voting on the ballots has no effect on who actually makes the team. So even if we did spend forever and a day voting for Morrow, and getting him to 20th on the list (because we don’t have enough people to make it to the top 10), he wouldn’t be at the All Star game, due to his terrible season so far.

LOL

Now go tell it to Faulkner, Hemingway, and McCullers as they used it my way too :)

Could be it boils down to personal preference, but I thank you for your concern in correcting me. One of my best friends was a teacher and she tried too, I guess I’m kinda stubborn though

it's ya'll for me too...

For what it's worth, I did my voting a while back.

At this point I’d vote for Nystrom if I went to vote again. He’s been awesome.

NHL All-Star voting is useless.

Unless you’re in a big hockey market, your home team players aren’t getting voted in.

I wish it was like the rangers where if you vote like 30 times you get free tickets

by JQ$ on Nov 29, 2011 11:36 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

And in a world where the media pushes East Cost + Redwings, and only markets Crosby & Ovi as players...

It’s kind of hard to get any Stars players in there.

If the players could vote on each other, it would be a different story.

there's gotta be more to it

Otherwise, whats the point of even having us vote?

Annnnnd now you've caught on. :-)

There is no point. That’s why it’s terrible.

Don't misunderstand my negativity towards voting though...

I actually enjoy the All-Star game. I just look at is as a chance to take a pause in the middle of the season, and enjoy the sport itself. And I love getting to see any of the Stars be on the team.

It’s just voting for the starters that I think is pointless.

all star games are pointless.

I don’t think i have watched one from any sport in 20 years.

I've never really felt guilty. I've been FOUND guilty.

except the MLB one.

winning side gets home field in the world series.

terrible setup

Of which the rangers have now suffered twice.

i havent watched baseball since they went on strike midseason.

So it is still pointless in my opinion. I couldn’t even name a baseball allstar player.

I've never really felt guilty. I've been FOUND guilty.

I actually like the skills competition in the NHL

But the actual game is more like a scrimmage, and it’s not really fun to watch because neither team cares who wins. I’d rather watch a late February game between Carolina and Calgary, with no playoff implications, than the All-Star game, because at least some of the players on both sides are competing for their jobs.
And I don’t know anyone who likes the MLB ASG set-up. Maybe now that the NL is winning them, Selig will change the rule. God forbid the Red Sox or Yankees encounter a competitive disadvantage in the World Series.

Skills competition rocks!

I do enjoy wathcing the game too, even if its less competative. I like it because its some of the best players of our time playing all at once – seriously, how can you not enjoy that. Well, maybe not everyone gets starry eyed like I do?

by StarryEyedLizzy on Nov 30, 2011 3:35 PM CST up reply actions

Maybe they should give the winning conference...

…home ice in the cup final. Give ’em something to play for….at least the contenders.

While I am opposed to this

it at least makes more sense in the NHL than it does in the MLB. At least in the NHL, most teams are still mathematically alive for a playoff spot when the all-star game is played. By the time of the MLB all-star game, at least half of all teams are no longer in realistic contention and could probably care less which league gets home-field.

Not just no

Hell no

I've never really felt guilty. I've been FOUND guilty.

by harry wagstaff on Dec 2, 2011 8:49 AM CST up reply actions

The game would be great if either side cared about the results

But it’s in the very nature of an all-star game that nothing is really on the line (or it should be…looking at you, Selig). So yes, most of the NHL’s best are there, but they’re not really doing what makes them great. Otherwise you wouldn’t have all-star caliber goalies allowing 23 goals in one game.

by Uncle Mo's Family Feedbag on Nov 30, 2011 6:08 PM CST reply actions

We do have to remember that they're also playing for fun

and trying not to get hurt.

How $hitty would it be if you got hurt during an All-Star game?

Just because I'm an artist doesn't mean I don't know my sports. I'll take on ANYONE in Fantasy International Ping Pong!
