11/28 OT Thread

Graham is stuck trying to play catch up on school work this morning, so I'm filling in for the OT thread duties.

Speaking of schoolwork -- For those of you that finished college, are you in a career that you got your degree in? Seems like more and more people are doing something besides what they thought they wanted to do. (Personally, I think the fault for that is the structure of classes themselves. Theory of a subject does not match reality anymore.)

I'm sick as a dog this morning.  Some kind of cold or flu. Do you guys get flu shots? If you don't why not? Are they actually filled with microscopic implants that the gov't uses to track you at all times? Or do you have a less conspiratorial reason?

What about holiday shopping? Did anyone do black Friday? Anything cool happen? I do all of my shopping online now, so I don't have many awesome stories to share, but I did it once in high school.  A friend of mine worked at Best Buy, and new the door buster deals (this was before they revealed them a week before, in order to avoid tramplings and the like). We went out at 2AM, and were the 6-8th people in line. It was really cold and windy, and we were miserable.  But then I remembered I had a car tarp in my trunk, since my convertible leaked. We made friends with the person in the lawn chair next to us, and he got under the tarp with us holding one side down. My friend pulled a rocking horse from the trunk of his car, and used it as a seat to hold the other side down.  And we played board games until it was time for the store to open.

OT Hockey Subject:  Since this seems to be coming up over and over in threads -- If you could make any trade for the Stars, what would it be? Who would you get? Who would you give up? Keep it realistic as far as trade value is concerned, but I think you can ignore NTCs for this conversation.

Since the Stars are so injured right now, perhaps it is apropos that we discuss injuries of our own? What the worst one you've ever had? I once cut off the tip of my thumb with a wood chisel. Had to go to the hospital to cauterize the wound. While I was there, some friends of mine dug through the wood shavings and found the tip for me. I kept it in a bag until it turned black (COOL!).
