Sean Avery waiver wire question
So, I read that Sean Avery is going back through the waiver wire, and if a team takes him, the Rangers will be on the hook for part of his salary. Does that mean the Stars portion would be knocked down to a third? Just wondering....
It would be nice to see a bit of that money go away considering the current financial woes. It would have been nice if that had happened much earlier.

I don't believe so.
As I understand it, another team claiming Avery has no affect on the Stars link to him; it would only cut the Rangers’ portion in half. I don’t have a link to the rule but I thought a story on TSN outlined that scenario when Avery was first demoted.
The Stars have to pay 1/2 of Avery's salary
If another team claims him, the Rangers would only have to pay 1/2 of their 1/2 they owe him (so, essentially 1/4 of his salary owed.) At least that’s how I understand it.
Yep. Whatever happens to Avery no longer has any bearing on us.
And it worked out okay I think, because I’m loving Nystrom so far.

Me too.
It was a nice move, even if Joe had to do it.
Good times are here and Stars will take what belongs to them. Sooner or Later.
