Dallas Trade Rumor.
Just saw this on another site.
To Dallas: Nazem Kadri, Clarke MacArthur, and Kris Versteeg plus a conditional pick
To Toronto: Brad Richards, Jamie Benn, and Ondrej Roman.
As well as the team is doing I would hate to trade anyone but as a realist I think the team should take a listen to any and all Richards offers. I could stomach losing Richards because I don't think we will be able to resign him but losing Benn is not something I am willing to do.
What do you think?

Absolutely Not.
I haven’t checked the source, but from what I’ve heard this stems from Eklund. Case closed.
But just to put in my two cents, Joe would be fired if he pulled this. Trading away the team’s future #1 star (he shares that stigma with Neal and Loui in my mind) for two 3rd/4th liners and a kid with an ego the size of Texas? I’d like to give Joe much more credit than that.
But like I said. Eklund.
And rightfully so!

That's a trade *fantasy*, not a trade rumor.
This proposed deal is a star center, a second-line forward (with “sky’s the limit” potential), and a prospect left winger for a prospect center, a grinding second-line winger, and a third line center.
In other words, it’d be like if, in the ‘90s, we traded Mike Modano and Jamie Langenbrunner for Randy McKay and Sergei Brylin. I’m not very impressed by that kind of offer, and I don’t imagine Joe would be either.
Even if we couldn’t be sure if we could keep Richards (and I think things are looking up there, more than ever; don’t give up hope yet, the odds look pretty good to me), I think we can probably get a better deal than that.
And trading Jamie Benn seems completely out of the question to me… you don’t just deal away your young star wingers. Look what happened when we did that to the last Jamie.

Though Versteeg isn't much of a PIM collector nowadays...
…so that makes me wonder about his physical presence. But hey, I only know so much about other teams, and the idea still works.

I don’t think there is any chance Richards is getting traded at the deadline unless the deal is too good to pass up. The team needs a good run in the playoffs to boost revenue and entice (is that how you spell it????) possible owners that there are still fans willing to come see a winning team, and having Brad Richards on the team will help more than whatever we could get for him in a trade.
Wasn’t the whole point of making Benn a center to groom him in the likelihood that Richards leaves?

Richards or Ribeiro.
They started putting Benn in the center role back when Ribs wasn’t doing so hot, if I remember right.
