Not exactly surprising news, as neither Fortunus or Wathier either had much of a chance to crack the roster. Both players were staples on the Texas Stars last season and through the AHL Playoffs, and they'll more than likely be guaranteed their roster spots in Cedar Park again this season.
So with this move, the current 28-man roster is left with five "fringe" players who A) did not play extensively in the NHL last season and B) are vying for a roster spot: center Aaron Gagnon, right winger Tomas Vincour, defensemen Philip Larsen and Severin Blindenbacher, and goalie Brent Krahn. Which begs the question for our readers...
Press Release after the jump...
FRISCO, Tex. -- The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has made the following roster moves to its 2010 Training Camp roster:
Assigned to Texas Stars (AHL) Training Camp:
The moves leave Dallas with 28 players on its Training Camp roster (attached).
The Stars will play their final home pre-season game Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche at 7:30 pm.
Poll
IF, hypothetically speaking, there were no obstacles (financial restraints, too many already at their position, etc.) keeping them from making the team out of camp, which of the remaining "fringe" players would you want to start the season in the NHL?
