Adam Burish and Andrew Raycroft choose their numbers

Per ESPN Dallas. Raycroft will wear #30, the number he wore last in Vancouver. 30 is also the same number Cesare Maniago wore for the North Stars, back in the day.

Burish will wear #16, the same number he wore as captain of the University of Wisconsin team. 16 was the same number that Free-Agent-Signing-That-Must-Not-Be-Named wore recently.

16 was also the same number that Pat Verbeek, our grinding right winger, wore when he was in Dallas.

After he left, Brett Hull kept it for the remainder of his time here.

So it isn’t all bad. Burish will never be a Hull, or Verbeek either, but the number isn’t anywhere close to being “jinxed”, on account of one guy who we had for 23 games.

I know that it was Verbeek's number at the time

but seeing hull in anything other than 16 was just weird.

Nah, I don't think it's jinxed at all.

In fact, I think Burish is going to be great for the team….and if Pat Verbeek wore it, there’s a precedent for grinding wingers wearing that jersey. Good karma.

I'm looking forward to Raycroft's mask.

Having seen the “tribute” mask he wore for the maple leafs, it will be interesting to see what he does for his Dallas Stars one. He could put Stars from the past on it like, um… Modano.
