Stars Sign Brad Lukowich To A One-Year Deal

Per Darren Dreger's twitter. This will be the second stint in Dallas for the 33-year-old defenseman, after playing here from '98-'02.  This is probably just for the Texas Stars, who are looking for a veteran defenseman to help out after Andrew Hutchinson departed for the Pittsburgh Penguins. In fact, Lukowich played for the Texas Stars after Vancouver assigned him there while their minor league team situation was in flux.

A couple interesting notes about Lukowich...he played on the Cup team in Dallas, but did not qualify to have his name inscribed on it because he didn't play enough games. And in the '00-'01 season, he was traded from Dallas to the Wild, and then traded back to Dallas two weeks later. The Stars somehow ended up with the great Joel Lundqvist out of that deal. So, there's that.

More to come on this later.

Yeah Luko!

Awesome depth signing by the Stars, especially after losing so many experienced D-men in Cedar Park recently.

Great signing.

I promised some Canucks fans in Twitter that I’d keep Lukowich’s nickname, Being Brad Lukowich. I like it. Hee.

Here's to all us girls who love hockey...and the men who play it.

I predict...

Sometime next year he will be with Dallas!

I hope so!

I think Lukowich would be a great addition to the blueline, especially if Niskers needs a new babysitter. I’d prefer Luke over Woywitka and maybe even Daley.

I remember last year when the baby Stars went in a mini slump just after Luko was recalled by the Nucks. He was a pretty stabalizing vet presence and lord knows we need all the guidance we can get for the young D!

I’m happy to see Luke return to the fold. Been missing him. Hope to see him in a Dallas jersey soon.

woo!

I’m thrilled with it. Been frustrating watching our Texas Stars defense corps skating off to different teams all summer. I know Luk and his family love Texas, and are quite settled in.

Good move!
