Texas Stars fall in OT to Hamilton Bulldogs, 3-2

Stay connected for news and updates

The Stars started the West Conference Finals against the Hamilton Bulldogs (Montreal Canadiens) in Ontario this evening.  Texas took two early penalties in the game and Hamitlon capitalized on just 5 minutes into the game to make it 1-0.  The Stars tied it up on a power play of their own with Jamie Benn beating goaltender Curtis Sanford with a weak 5-hole wrister.  Hamilton closed the period with a goal of their own on a knucklepuck from David Desharnais that ticked off Brock Trotter for the 2-1 lead.

Texas tied it up in the second period on the power play.  Dan Jancevski passed down from the left point to the low right wing circle where a waiting Jamie Benn one-timed it home for the 2-2 lead.  Texas skated to a scoreless third, but took a penalty at the end of regulation that ended up hurting them.  The Bulldogs scored on the carryover of the power play in OT.  Texas took 6 penalties in the game and allowed two PP goals, which they can't afford to do.
