It Was Like Something Out of a Movie
And this is just here to say that if you didn't get emotional, you're dead inside.
I'll have more photos tomorrow. B-Bibb's bringing the recap soon.
What a night.

So I got a migraine before the game
I get like 4-5 a year, and when I do, they knock my vision out all blurry for a while, and then I get a headache that puts me on my ass for hours…nausea, sensitivity to light…I fought through it, got to the arena, and they made me feel better, but I was scared I wasn’t gonna make it at around 5:30 today.
Again one of the greatest experienecs of my life, I will never forget.
I am still "FRISKY FOR NISKY"
Best 81st game between 11th and 12th place teams every, I'll say that.
And I’m looking at the goal again now….boy it was close.
I wonder if that gets overturned in a playoff game. I don’t know. It was close…but you had to give it to him there. Surely the Duck fan would agree? (I kid)
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEST FAN EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And I’m old, people!)
No one could have written it better. God is definitely a Mike Modano fan.
WOW.

He nearly had the breakaway in OT.
That would have brought the arena down. And we would rebuild Reunion.

But in retrospect, I'm glad he didn't
To see jere get it on in at the end, and for Marty Turco to make the big saves…. I mean….it was just incredible.

And marty...
We tried in 315 for the MARTY chant, and had it going until…. Celina Ray decided to give out a 100 dollar git card to JC Penny’s. He deserved better, and Jere could have gotten a little more too.

But in the end, it had to be Mike's night. And boy was it.

I'm naming my first born Modano. Possilby Lehtinen.
I’m naming my dog Nisky.

It WAS like something out of a movie
Unfortunately, Jonas Hiller got the script a little late. He was a beast and on any other night, he would have been one of the stars of the game.
And early on in the game, there seemed to be an epidemic among the Stars of must-get-the-puck-to-Mike-itis, which the Ducks were obviously waiting for.
And I don’t care what the stats lines say, or if others accuse us of being homers (kind of ironic, in a game against Anaheim), but Mike Modano, Jere Lehtinen and Marty Turco ARE the 3 Stars of tonight’s game. Period.
To #9
Thank you for everything, if it is the last time we get to see you play in Texas just know that you were a transcendental hockey player and that you are the reason this game flourishes in a state that never a thing about the great game of hockey until you introduced it to us. You are the effing man!
I still can't concentrate on anything.
Somehow I was able to write something on the game.

Yea...
I cried and so did my wife. I’m not afraid to admit it either.
On a silly side-note, I have got to ask Aaron Gagnon about what it was like to play in that game when he gets back to Texas…

Dude, I was standing there welling up the whole damned night.
If it’s ok for Mo to cry (and he was welling up all night too. Thank you HD video boards!) then I say it’s ok for us.

Somehow, it wasn't a sellout? about 500 short?
WTF is wrong with people here? He’s entertained like a million people. They couldn’t come to a game on a thursday?
Ah well.
On NHL on the Fly, they joked about Dallas fudging the attenance figures just a little.
They said the announced attendance was 18 thousand….and 9.
It does have a nice semetry to it, doesn't it?
I went and looked up the game report. 18,009 was the announced attendance.
I doubt they fudged them much.
I didn’t have any empties around me.

Still, it was the loudest crowd I've heard. (I never went to a hockey game in Reunion.)
Supporting your local ice troll, 24/7/365
True
It was loud, closest to a sellout we have had, and it rivaled the games against Detroit in the conference finals. The only thing that was missing was the confetti. I was surprised they didn’t have confetti.

what i would gave to be at that game, got centre ice so i could watch it, its 6 in the mornin were i am !
well worth stayin up to watch , makes you love the Stars and Mo even more after a game like tonight !
I just realized that I didn't see a single Ducks jersey in the crowd, was I just turning a blind eye?
We did see every imaginable Modano jersey. We lost count of how many different ones there were.
Supporting your local ice troll, 24/7/365
WOW
Just got home from the game. I was the first person to receive a jersey at the end game ceremony from Nick Grossman. What a night it was for MO and the team. It was 11 games in a row that i attended that they lost until this mammoth game. It was surreal being down at ice level with that SO goal by MO. This was a night i will never forget.
Congrats dude.
He totally dwarfed you. Congrats again, I tried.

If I was choosen, I would have preferred Toby Peterson...
I would have dwarfed him with my 6’3 frame.

Grossman is a big boy.
My daughter had her picture taken with him once and his hand was in a loose fist resting on her shoulder. His fist was the size of her face.

And just FYI, night's like this are why I'm a sports fan and more specifically a hockey fan.

I can't belive he has another game after this one.
I wonder if this will be the one we all remember years from now as the last game.
Wouldn't it be fun
if he topped it on Saturday?
Blogging about the Texas Stars at HundredDegreeHockey.com
Probably. It will be interesting to see how the Minnesota crowd handles this.
Supporting your local ice troll, 24/7/365
Did they show on TV the players coming out with their kids to take their pictures with Mo?
Otter with his little girl, Robi with his kids and several others. Gah. They just kept killing me.
Supporting your local ice troll, 24/7/365
Yes.
They did. I was unfortunate in the fact that I had to work today (1400-2200) but I had to come home early for some medicine…
I got to watch all but the first half of the game (1st per, and half of 2nd per) on TV. They did show the kids. And more kids. I’m not afraid to admit that this game made me tear up. Seeing Mo break down (even during the press conference he teared up) made me tear up big time. Mo will always be the face of this team. Now. Tomorrow. Forever.
Im not even a Stars fan...
But that was simply amazing. A great career for Modano and Id be lying if I said I wasnt going to miss him playing against the Canucks a little.

I've been watching hockey for more than 50 years...
and I have never seen a sendoff like this one!
Not even Gretzky’s! Gretzky’s was about his talent; Modano’s was about the person.
I’m not saying Gretzky wasn’t loved and appreciated, but last night was very special.
Last night it was about the man.
Last night it was about hockey being very alive and very well in Texas!
That's a really good point.
I’m stealing it ;)
