Crawford

I do not necessarily agree with the way a lot of Head Coach jobs are treated now a days, in all pro sports, I dont agree with them being the fall guy to spark a team. However I really am at the point in wondering what if anything Crawford is actually doing to make this team better...in any facet. With Morrow, Zubov, Ott, Lehtinen, Richards all spending extended periods of time on the IR this team was actually better off at this point last season.

Star-divide

I was really really trying to give this team an entire season to gel and get comfortable and see Nisky, Daley flourish in an offensive minded system. And yet the team actually has LESS goals....I am completely at a loss for words on this entire season.

I was expecting exciting hockey with some speed bumps, instead we get to watch peewee mistakes on a nightly basis and it honestly looks like trying to scale the Rockies as opposed to working out some kinks. I can just only wonder where Tippett may have had us at this point had he of not just been cast aside in a regime change, and maybe a continued focus on the defensive aspects would actually have helped Daley and Niskanen instead of exposing them.

I am certainly not saying I do not think it was time for a coaching change, because I was all about getting a hard nosed coach featuring an offensive style. But instead we got the Disney version of a former hard nosed coach who hasn't won anything since he had 4 hall of famers in his lineup.

I wanna know how much longer we must suffer with a guy who clearly is not getting the job done, and would rather be the one giving Morrow a back massage after the game as opposed to lighting a fire under his as s to get some passion into this teams game. I for one am sick of watching, 40 minutes, at best of, half the team trying then a monumental collapse on countless occasions which results in a painfull regulation loss, or the dreaded OT loss which this team cannot even seem to manage anymore(I never thought I would say this but it would be nice if we could at least get to OT before collapsing) followed by Crawford "well we did some good things out there, but the defense wasnt very good so we will have to keep working at it...".

Well this ends my rant...hopefully it has some decent thoughts in it and doesn't just come off ass venting.

Fanposts are perfect for ranting....

I feel you, man.

But I’m not sure I would necessarily feel better if he just blasted away at them in the media night after night. That’s not good for anyone.

Hopefully he blasts them privately every now and then…

I kind of like that Crawford has kept his cool in public,

I was scared we were going to get the raving lunatic version when he was hired. He was ripped for doing that to his youth in LA. I’m not sure that motivates the team much, esp in your first season with a lot of youth and a major switch in philosophy. I do hope he has roasted a few people one on one.

OTOH this team sure seems uninspired right now, but man if knowing your season and your job is on the line doesn’t do it I’m not sure a screaming coach will either.

Serinity now, Serinity now, SERINTIY NOW!

I just flashed on Crawford doing that Seinfeld riff before his news conferences! lol

...

I suppose I didnt really get my point across properly in my rage, I do not want to see over the top red in the face vein on his temple style Crawford we have seen in the past.

I know that I do not see what goes on behind the scenes, but does anyone get the impression players are being held accountable for soft, uninspiring play. I just remember one of the big sentiments behind a coaching change was a move towards more of a fiery approach. I just do not get that sentiment from Crawford, he seems content to just let this team figure it out.

If Crawford doesnt really seem to be coaching this team better, doesnt really seem to be producing goals, doesnt seem to be making players accountable…what exactly is he bringing, and at what point do we have to look for a new option. Its not like he is working with garbage here, we have seen this exact lineup look electric and inspiring and come together through injuries.

Related curiosity

I wonder how well the Stars are adhering to Crawford’s system at their best and worst. Might be worth rewatching the big upsets and the big messups with a stopwatch on shifts and an eye for things he’s talked about emphasizing.

I agree

I haven’t seen nearly as many games as you guys have this season, but every game I do see is filled with Crawford staring blankly across the ice whenever the Stars screw up. There just seems to be little to no emotion from him on the bench, all the time.

I’ve been coached by all types from the laissez faire to the in your face coaches. As much as I hated the yelling all the time coaches as a person, I hated the laissez faire person as a coach. In my mind, it’s better to yell at a guy for screwing up right after he does it than package it up and unload behind closed doors (if Crawford is even doing that). This team has looked completely unmotivated numerous times and Crawford has seemingly done nothing to counter that.

I know he doesn’t have the longest resume, but I was really hoping the management would give Carbs a shot when Montreal gave him the boot. He was fired up when he needed to be behind the bench and largely failed due to a GM trying to coach the team.

If the Stars fail to make the playoffs and wind up with a worse record than last year (or significantly less GF) I hope Joe sees that this experiment isn’t working.

Carbs

I like him to but he is a defensive minded coach. If for no other reason he never had a chance because Joe wants an up tempo offensive style game.

hmm

I agree Brendan about Carbs. However, if Mo goes after the season, has anyone considered the one guy that brought the Cup to Dallas who was let go this season?? Not sure how Joe’s relationship is with him, but Hitch might be an alright snag.. Also, Montreal’s offensive was so explosive when Carbs was there so I don’t understand why he was overlooked so easily. Especially after all the talent the Crow had with LA and Van yet couldn’t deliver, and now look at both… unfortunate break for us..
