The Dallas Stars are supposed to be an offensively impressive and balanced team. All of the pieces are essentially there, with some incredibly talented forwards forming a solid nucleus for this team to build around. But there's always been something missing, that one key ingredient that always seemed to hold this team back:
The right-handed winger.
It fives balance to a scoring line. It makes the center's job much easier, and opens up so much more on the power play. The Stars have Stephane Robidas and Jere Lehtinen, and have drafted a number of right-handers in the past few years, but that's not helping right now.
Brandon Segal is showing what a difference a rightie can make. His tenacity and finishing ability perfectly compliment Mike Ribeiro and Brenden Morrow, and I don't think it's a coincidence we're really starting to see both of them start to play like we're used to.
It doesn't hurt that Segal has seemed to find a role he truly embraces here in Dallas, and has instantly become a valuable member of the team.
Righties. We need more of them.
