Mark Cuban Interested in Dallas Stars? Sportsnet.ca Thinks So?
Mark Cuban is reportedly interested in becoming owner of the Dallas Stars? Stop me if you've heard this one before. That was the first thought out of everyone's mouth nine months ago when Tom Hicks confirmed interest in selling his hockey team, so to "report" it now and suggest he's going to "kick the tires" seems like logical speculation more than actual news. [sportsnet]
We've said all along that perhaps "where there's smoke, there's fire" but none of it has proved fruitful where the sale of this team is concerned. Like every other piece of "news", someone in the "mainstream" (usually Canadian) media reports it, and Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News shoots it down, suggesting that there's really been nothing in the way of new developments. Cuban was interested in being minority owner if the deal is beneficial for him, and that's always been the case.
It's rather tiresome. Besides, what do you expect from a segment called "Sources Say"?
Nothing to see here.

Cuban already commented
He’s interested in being the minority owner for he can control the arena, so not our savior. Wouldn’t mind him being a minority owner if he wants to put up the cash for a d-line.
Let's hope he stays away.
I hope the Stars get an owner who cares about hockey, cares about winning, cares about spending money but doesn’t care about being part of the story. Cuban is like Jerry Jones they both have huge wallets but their ego to be in the team photo makes them burdensome to the team.
Cuban is in fact not like Jerry Jones
Jones Ego does get it in the way of the Cowboys but Cuban has done all he can to make the Mavs a winning team. True they can’t compete w/ the Lakers but who has?? The Mavs are in the playoffs every freakin year, what more do you want from Cuban?
Obviously a championship.
Difference between Jones and Cuban is Jones’ GM moves backfire more obviously on him and to the fans than does Cuban’s failures.
It’s nice that we have a team that consistently wins, but that eventually gets boring if they can’t compete to win on the biggest stage.
Not a GM..
I will admit Cuban doesn’t pretend to be the smartest guy in the room but his antics for running onto the court, having WWF stare downs with the commissioner, and throwing fits that would make Spike Lee go “calm down man” is very tiresome for fans and the players. As another poster brought up him having control of the AAC would be HORRIBLE for the stars.
You'd think there'd be more interesting hockey stories to report on
than a “nothing new to see here, it’s all been reported 20 bazillion times before” news piece.
The Stars will have a 3 game win streak within their first 6 games. Mark my words!
Him controlling the AAC would be a disaster...
Every conflict the two teams had would go the Mavs way. No thanks.
Jerry Jones...making Tom Hicks blush.
