Jussi Jokinen & 2011 NHL All-Star Game

Good Evening Defending Big D members,

Hopefully the title of the fan post got your attention but I am hoping the rest of this post will make you take some action…

As a Carolina Hurricanes fan I have watched Jussi Jokinen resurrect his career (after Tampa Bay), become fan favorite and a playoff hero in Carolina. We think he has found a home in Carolina and it couldn’t make us fans any happier.

I know that Jussi was also fan favorite during his years in Dallas and still holds a special place in the hearts of many Dallas Stars fans.

So with that being said a group fans have put together a little campaign to get Jussi voted in to the 2011 All-Star game that will be in Raleigh, NC this January.

Hoping that Stars fans will join and support this worthy cause of getting this great guy and skilled player into the ASG. We in Carolina feel he is sometimes over looked and undervalued – but we know that he brings it to the ice every game and I am sure he did the same for the Stars (come on – didn’t you guys also sing his name during the national anthem?)

I know your asking yourself “Where do I sign up?!?!?”

You can also follow on Twitter @Jussi4ASG and there has even been a “Vote for Jussi for All-Star Game” t-shirts designed on Café Press… on the FB page when it reaches 336 members a free t-shirt will be giving out randomly to a member of the group.

I'll definitely vote for him if he puts up some good numbers.

But I can’t just vote all willy nilly. That would make me everything I hate when I look at the All-Star game roster and get angry about snubs.

Meh.

He wasn’t really a fan favorite for many of the fans I know, myself included. Here in Dallas he only seemed to be useful in the shootout, but I’m glad he has found a place to thrive in Carolina.

Jussi's one of my favorites.

He’s the shootout assassin. I’ll vote a thousand times if it makes him an All-Star.
