Hannu Toivonen???
Placed on waivers by the Blackhawks? I know the Stars have a big of a logjam if they were to claim him, but this seems like a golden opportunity given his upside. Im not 100% in the know with his expected future but he was once first round pick, bluechip goalie. He clearly must be struggling if he lost the backup job in Chicago to Corey Crawford but still theres gotta be some significant upside left with this guy.

Not this guy.
He was once what he was, but he is not the “chip” Stars need. I didn’t like him even playing Sm-liiga.
One good game, five bad ones.
I’m not saying that he couldn’t be better than Raycroft, but still…
Only Jussi Markkanen would be worst goalie, if you want your tandem from Finland…
Ersberg
The least touted of the LA trip was also placed on waivers today

That wouldn't be bad move.
But I don’t think that Stars will get other goalies. They should, but they can’t… They are using all the money right now, aren’t they…
pretty much
It sucks though, especially when you see really usefull players up for the pickings.

If we did pick Ersberg up he would have to stay on the nhl
roster. Or LA could just claim him back. Of course with Raycrofts 3rd period and having a 2 way contract that may not be so bad. Would create a logjam and some issues with existing prospects in Austin though.
All I saw was the headline, and I said
“No.”

Have you actually...
ever seen this guy play? Blues fans turned green with nausea every time he stepped on the ice a couple of seasons ago. I wouldn’t even call this guy useful. And that is a shame considering what his potential was. I think the Blues actually broke him: http://bluenotezone.com/2009/12/23/prospect-profile-hannu-toivonen/
