Tom Wandell Assigned to Texas Stars on Conditioning Assignment
The Dallas Stars assigned center Tom Wandell to the Texas Stars on a conditioning assignment today.
Two weeks ago, Wandell suffered a shoulder injury on a hit by Mark Fistric during a scrimmage to help open Stars training camp up in Prince Edward Island. That injury has caused Wandell to miss all of the Stars pre-season games.
Wandell's 2009-10 season was cut short by a torn ACL against Vancouver on January 21st.
Wandell is expected to play in the Texas Stars second preseason game of the weekend against the Houston Aeros at Cedar Park Center at 5:00 pm.
The Texas Stars play the Oklahoma City Barons down in Cedar Park this evening. You can check out scm83x's preview at his regular digs over at Hundred Degree Hockey.
And don't forget, the Stars play the St. Louis Blues in their final pre-season tuneup tonight before dropping the puck for real next Friday against New Jersey.

I would be very surprised to see Wandell in the opening night lineup at this point
But they’ve given no indication that he won’t be.
He just hasn’t played or done any work (chemistry-wise) with anyone. This is going to be an important week for him if he’s going to be in the lineup next Friday. We’re just talking about 4th line minutes at this point, but still. Petersen, Sutherby and Segal have been good in the pre-season.
