Ugh. We had better win tonight.
My day just went from great to very, very depressing. Another game like last night would not be good for my mood.
Hope everything is alright.

Thanks, I hope it wil be soon. I found out today my grandmother has two brain tumors.
She survived breast cancer last year, so we’re holding a bit of optimism. But it’s still very scary.
Oh jeez.
My thoughts man. That’s tough.

I must have this thing for hockey boys from Whitby with the initials JN.
Ooo. We were at the 10-2 game last year. Fun times.
We better win tonight. I haven’t recovered from last night’s loss yet.

Besides the whole Avery factor,
a win would be very nice. And if he breaks a nail, that’s nice too.

If I were the Stars players..
I kick Turco square in the cup during intermission.
They came out with purpose and a good attack, get the first goal and then he lets the Rangers right back in with a freaking softy like that.

Question:
I’ve been meaning to ask this to the community. Given all of the players available on the Stars roster and in the Stars system, what are your ideal D-man pairings? I ask, in part, because I came away rather impressed with Fortunius during his time with the big team.
Easy.
Robidas – Grossman
Skrastins – Vishneskiy
Fortunus – Fistric

I agree, I think sending Fortunus down instead of Niskanen was a BAD move.
I love the way Maxie plays.
Meanwhile, I concur with Brandon’s lines.
Well....
Niskanen can’t go down. Although it would be interesting to see how quickly he’d get picked up in waivers.

Huh. I thought Nisky was a 2-way contract. Guess not.
And yeah, he’d probably be picked up quickly. He and Brunnstrom are on my own personal trading block.
Well, technically yes.
But he’s played two many games, it nullifies the two-way part.

by Brandon Worley on Jan 6, 2010 6:35 PM CST up reply actions
It's been amazing...
… to watch the evolution of the perceptions regarding that D-man class of Nisky, Grossman, and Fistrict.
That great first season might have been the worst thing to happen to Nisky. Has he even been CLOSE to reaching that point again since disappearing in the 2008 playoffs?
by RPT on Jan 6, 2010 6:35 PM CST up reply actions
Well, I think he could've used a LOT more time in the minors.
Fistric really seems to have benefited from having that last year.
At this point, would losing Niskanen really be a loss? I mean, I know it would and I shouldn’t make light, and I still think he’ll be an able defenseman some day, but it seems like his growth has really hit a plateau. Stick it out awhile longer, or risk possibly losing him by sending him down to develop some more in the AHL?
Morrow and Avery really getting into it now.
This could get interesting.

I had no idea that the B-Rad line dominated the scoring as much as they did. Last time I really looked, I thought the top two lines were pretty even. What happened? Where did everyone else go?
and damn, B-Rad has got to work on the +/-. It has pretty much plagued him all his career, but seriously. he’s the only top 10 scoring player with a minus. You have to defend, too, sweetie. Ok?
A lot of his scoring is on the power play.
So that doesn’t help it much.

that was always Mathieu’s problem (I went over that extensively on my blog once when i was really bored). I was about to attribute that to Brad, because there is a lot of truth to that. But looking at the rest of the top 10, they have as many or more PPP this season, and are way plus.
Totally killed my theory. =\
That was huge killing off that penalty.
The Stars actually have a chance to win this. And now Avery has put the Stars back on the PP.

Oh Nealer
I still love you honey. Now when you come out of the box like a freaking bull from the shoot, I except you to get a goal and take down several Rangers on the way to the net

Well, I've been doing battle with a broken vacuum cleaner.
Looks like that was more fun than this game. Maybe I should go break it again.

F*ck
This team is just so incredibly screwed up right now.

I've been reading the comments to catch up for here goes...
Pat, so sorry about your g-mom, my prayers are with you and your family as well.
Avery is a (insert any really bad word you like).
HG, sorry about your internet. Sounds like the guys have already told you everything I have ever been told by tech support.
I don’t like beer, at all. I know, I’m weird.
B-rad is really pissed and does not look like a rat. :P
And while Ribs is by no means my favorite, I certainly hope he is ok. Eek.
Finally, Turco = sad.
Supporting your local ice troll, 24/7/365
Can't believe the Stars haven't been able to take advantage of these power plays.
Avery is just giving them a reason to tie the game.

Is there a team in the league that has given up more goals than the Stars this season?
Gotta have hockey!
Sadly..
Yes.

Blow It Up
I think it is about that time to blow it up and rebuild around Neal, Benn, Grossman and Vishnevskiy. Trade Morrow, Richards, Turco, Ribs, Robidas, etc. and start getting draft picks and young players.
WHERE'S THE REACTION!!!!????
HE JUST RAN OVER YOUR GOALTENDER ON PURPOSE! REACT YOU F’ING PANSIES!!!!

Turco gets plowed over.. and NO ONE takes issue with it..

I don't think this has to do with Turco. This is a team mentality or actually, lack there of.

Body language
Marty gets plowed and no one even glanced at the guy.
Unbelievable.

I will forever maintain that if we had kept Hagman and never got Avery,
the Stars would be in a whole different place right now. A much better place.
And what is going on with these guys???
Supporting your local ice troll, 24/7/365
This team has no heart, soul, fire, passion, or guts.
They’re corpses on skates, nothing more, nothing less.
This is on Niewy now...
A move has to be made to wake the F out of this team.

So in my notebook for tonight's game this is something I jotted down earlier:
“Richards pipe”.
That made me chuckle at least.

It has been said before, but I think this can honestly, truly be said now: this is the low point for the season. Something needs to give. And not a line shuffling or an extra practice. Someone’s gotta get benched. A trade. A send-down. They are asleep
We wish. Sadly, I think someone else is going to have to pay for the lack of motivation from the coach.
Supporting your local ice troll, 24/7/365
But who? This is a players problem. One of there top players just got dropped, and he had to get up and jaw back at the guy. His teammates skated away. That is wrong on so many levels in the NHL.
yeah I agree
I think the players have got to find a way to dig out of this
I must have this thing for hockey boys from Whitby with the initials JN.
Problem is...
well, just look at Morrow’s body language. Mopey, kinda downtrodden. I’ve begun to sour on him as captain lately.
You have a point, especially considering what little I've seen of this game.
I just kept feeling that with all this talent, healthy, why can’t Crow do anything with them?
But there is nothing in tank with these guys right now. And I have no idea where you go from here.
Supporting your local ice troll, 24/7/365
Hopefully you go up from here
we need a shot of something to get us going

You know, this team is heading in the wrong direction
They are not so much stuck in neutral anymore as they have now put it in reverse.
Gotta have hockey!
I may use that for tonight's recap.
Do you mind?

Tonight.
I am going to get on GM Mode on NHL 10 and firesale the hell out of the Stars. Gotta get the aggression out somehow. Then I will forward my results to Happy Girl, for her to give to GM Joe.

Reminds me of a Tucker Max story...
When Tucker and a friend were trying to start a fight with a girl’s boyfriend by making lewd comments. The girl got up and left, and then the boyfriend tried to start a fight.
At that point, Tucker and friend laugh and say, “Why are you trying to start a fight now. You’re girl is gone.” Of course, this story has been heavily censored.
So, why are you fighting now, Ott? The game’s gone.

I never thought I'd see a Stars team that didn't have any heart or passion
some nights that was all we had and we lost but it was better than this
I must have this thing for hockey boys from Whitby with the initials JN.
Sean Avery was the first star of he game. Seriously. What does that say about this team right now? I think I’m gonna be sick. or cry. Or both.
I hate to say it..
But credit to Avery for getting up for this game… Based on his season I bet Ranger fans wished they could play the Stars every night.
This is a game the Stars should have been up for as well.. to really stick it to Avery and to rebound from an ugly loss the night before. Only they lost in a more ugly way tonight!
