LOST Season 6 Precursor Discussion Thread
Okay.
It has come to my attention that a number of our faithful readers on Defending Big D are hardcore LOST fans. I am one of those myself. Some of the guys in my office are casual observers, but grow weary of my theoretical quantum time mechanics analysis every week, or how Daniel Faraday is the key to entire series.
Here is a place for us to discuss the wonderful, nerd-tastic show.
All season, I'll put up a post-episode thread to discuss that week's show. I'll publish it immediately following the conclusion of the show on the East coast, so if you are on the West coast BEWARE: These are spoiler-filled discussions.
This thread is intended to be precursor to season 6. What happened when Juliet hit the bomb? Did it matter? Did anything change? Was Charlotte's death in vain? Is this actually Jacob and Esau? Will Matthew Fox ever learn to act?

LOST rocks. A few of my friends and I got together a two Saturday’s ago and watched Season 5 start to finish. Epic.
I have no idea how they’re going to answer all the questions, but I have faith they will.

Cuse and Lindelof
They’ve said not EVERY question will be answered outright. But most of them.

What a couple of jerks.
I’m confident the season is going to rock, though. It’s been written forever so they’ve had time to tweak it in their brains and make it perfect.

Oh, and I also think Charlotte is hot for some reason. I can’t justify it at all, but I do. Is that weird, because everybody else I know thinks it is. Including myself.

I've had major arguments with my good friend about this.
I’m a major Charlotte fan.
"It would've been a huge momentum boost if we had beaten the St. Mary's School for the Blessed, Blind, Deaf and Dumb."
Hockey nut since the night of 5/2/08. What a night it was.
Who else HATES Kate?
I cannot stand her.

I think she's evolved from extremely likeable
To a severe beating over 5 seasons.

I was re-watching "Dead is Dead" (5.12) the other day
And have come to believe even more over the break that The man in Black/Esau/Flocke is indeed the smoke monster.
I thought it was a dumb idea at first, but I’m really coming around on it.
Totally agree.
Although…watching that clip above and the scene with Vincent and Christian throws my ‘vincent is jacob’ theory for a loop….since I have NO IDEA what side Christian is on.

Ok, here's the thing.
Esau=Christian.
And the ghost of every dead person that’s shown up. For some reason, the rules surrounding Esau require that he can only inhabit the form of someone who is dead and on the island. Christian, Locke, Claire….otherwise he’s in smoke monster form. I’m fairly certain that everything surrounding the plan crash was of Esau’s doing, all part of the plan to create a ‘loophole’ to kill Jacob.
Now Vincent….I have no clue.
There are also some other ‘ghosts’ that have shown up who’s bodies weren’t on the island. And how in the hell did Walt appear to Locke?

I like that theory. As for Walt...
….if we see Vincent communicating with Christian/Esau, then it goes without saying that Walt must have a special purpose. Perhaps Esau used Vincent to get Walt (and his powers) to the island? I really don’t know, I’m just throwing stuff out haha.
All I want to know is….WHAT HAPPENED TO CLAIRE?!?!?

She died in the explosion.

...maybe I'm just in denial about that.

That's my theory at least.
Ever since the explosion in the house, she hasn’t touched Aaron.

I was trying to think of ways to rebuke that theory...
..and I started thinking how we never saw Claire’s dead body. Then I remembered how Christian’s body also disappeared……before realizing that when Esau became Locke, Locke’s body remained. So….why the difference? Why do we not see Claire (assuming she’s dead) and Christian’s bodies, but Locke’s body is still there while Esau-Locke is out and about? There’s gotta be a reason for that.

Also...
I don’t think all apparitions are necessarily MIB/Smoke Monster.
Bens mother appearing to him, for instance. And the Walt appearances. I think some of them have been smoke monster related, but I like to think the island (or Jacob, if you want) was also trying to influence and conduct events…
Richard Alpert's eyeliner is the key to his youthful appearance.
"Hey... Goldberg! I bet if that puck was a cheeseburger, you'd stop it!
Ahhh ha ha ha!!!!!

It's going to be interesting to find out exactly what Alpert is..
I’m pretty certain at this point he was off the Black Rock, and Jacob kept him and others alive.

I am going to the game tonight
So don’t post anything about LOST in the game thread, for the love of god.
I'll put a disclaimer up.
I’ll also be watching the show after the game.
Late night tonight.

Ok good...
I’ve already set it up so that I am going into work late tomorrow. After I get home from the game I have to get my daughter to sleep, then I am free for LOST viewing but it’s going to be late.
