Petr Sykora
So I just saw that Petr Sykora cleared waivers on TSN. I think he's a rightie. What are your thoughts on the Stars picking him up? $1.6M contract IIRC. It just seems to me it could be a band aid type of thing but with Lehts out and our need for right shots, I don't know. I wonder if he can play goal? And sorry I don't know if this is the right place for this. I'm still kind of new here. I just talk a lot. - love ya - hg

The problem with Sykora...
is that he’s only got three points on the year and he’s injury prone. He’s not what he used to be.

He’s only 33 and he recorded 46 points last season, so one would assume he’s probably got something left in the tank.
Minnesota gave him top 6 minutes for a few games, then reduced his minutes. He’s not effective on the third or forth line. If I’m not mistaken, he’s always been a streaky guy; and he seemed to reward teams that stuck with him through the cold streaks. I think he could have a positive impact here, if we gave him top 6 minutes… but I’m not sure that I’d want to give him top 6 minutes. We have depth at forward; let’s use it!
Being a rightie certainly helps, but (hopefully) that will be addressed at the trade deadline or in the off-season.
Picking him up on re-entry waivers..
If the Stars could get him on the rebound, I’d take him. Half the price for a right handed shot the Stars need.
He’s at least worth a shot anyway.
