Frisco, Tex -- The Dallas Stars announced today that the NHL club has activated defenseman Nicklas Grossman from injured reserve. The team also announced that right wing Ray Sawada has been recalled from the Texas Stars, Dallas primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Grossman has appeared in 41 games for Dallas this season, scoring four assists with a +5 rating. The Stockholm, Sweden native is in his third season in the NHL, having played all 192 games with the Stars. He was Dallas' second round selection (56th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Sawada, 24, has appeared in 30 games for Texas this season, scoring two goals and five assists for seven points with 39 penalty minutes. He was Dallas' second round selection (52nd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Sawada appeared in five NHL games last season, including scoring a goal in his league debut on Feb. 19, 2009 vs. Edmonton on his 24th birthday.

Sawada Has Been Aggressive Lately

Not that he has been a passive player this season for Texas, but he has really been throwing his weight around the last few games. It seems like a case of “He earned a promotion by knocking people around”, even if it is short-lived.
