Robidas laughs in the face of your silly Stanley Cup superstition!
"Stephane Robidas inadvertently touched the Cup and thought, to hell with it and fully grasped it. "Ah, this feels really good. I could learn to like this when Dallas wins the Cup this year," he said to derisive taunts from the Penguins’ fans in attendance."
Ya know I've already mentioned on my other blog on how silly the "don't touch the trophy" superstition is, so I'm alright with Robi doing this.
I'm calling it right now... Stars win the Cup in 2010 because of this turning point in franchise history!

When my wife an I visited the HHOF in 2000
It was on the day of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. I had my pic taken with the Cup they have on display. Even though it wasn’t the “real” Stanley Cup (the actual Cup was obviously back in Dallas that day), I did not touch it.
The Stars still lost that night. So perhaps there is something to your little theory.

Anger the Hockey Gods at your own risk….It’s one thing to grab the conference championship trophy (after you’ve won it, no less)….Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman and lots of guys did that.
But to touch the Cup before winning it? Uncouth, I say. Probably not the biggest deal in the world, but hey it’s July.
It’s probably not the coolest thing in the world for Boucher to invite friends who haven’t won the Cup over…Sure they’re happy their buddy won, but you know they all just wanted to do what Robidas did.

I know there is a difference between the conference trophies and touching the actual Cup, but I do wonder how many of these players when they were small kids touched and posed with the cup as it tours like it usually does around North America.. I bet the number would be larger than we think …
Maybe that’s why I never turned out to be a hockey player or a major league pitcher.. I didn’t respect the time honored superstitions enough!
